Large Reds are all over the flats giving anglers a chance at that fish of a life time. The fish are in schools of 50 to 75 and ranging from 20-30 pounds. The Snook fishing will be the top priority this week as the water temps are finally perfect for the most acclaimed species on the east coast. Early starts will be vital to get the best position on the flats to claim the schools so many guides want for them selves, so get to sleep early and lets go get that trophy of a life time.

The Trout fishing hasn't been this good for a long while. Today we had shot after shot for Redfish but the Trout keep taking the the top honors again.
This year I have seen more Large Trout then the past years. On an average the fish are from 25 to 30 inches in groups of 20 and even 50 some days. It really is a true trophy to land one of these fish. Not only are they hard to fool but also difficult to keep on the line as well. The fight is hard and explosive... making this one of my favorite fish to target.
Good job today Wallace !

Trout are on the flats in big numbers right now. The females are siting in sand holes waiting to ambush prey. Best baits right now seem to be a gold colored jerk bait rigged on a weedless hook. Jeff was able to land this fat 7 pounder today along with a few reds as well. Again the schools of Redfish are thick and plentiful. We had at least 4-5 groups of fish with about 50-100 in a school. Winds still blow at 10 MPH but the direction has worked to our favor this week. As long as you work the flat slowly not to miss any fish being camouflaged by the choppy water you will find the fish.
The rest is up to you... make the right cast and hook the fish

My good old Ring Power clients joined me today for a little site fishing. Pat brought out his son this time and I am pretty sure Brendan is HOOKED for sure now.
The flats are absolutely covered in Redfish just like these so lets see if we can go get a few for you as well. May will be the start of the Snook fishing and soon Tarpon will follow so lets go!

Trout seem to be the top dog today. We had Redfish all over today but the Trout seemed to want the baits more.
Fishing was tough as the winds blew out of the south at 20 mph. The guys I had fishing with me today stuck it out and pressed on to the end. Even though it weather stunk the fishing was not to bad. winds will lay back down by Wednesday and hopefully the skies will be clear so we can get the Reds to eat again.

Well back to fishing as my main gig today.
The three days of photo safaris are done and over so today it was back to the push pole putting clients on the fish rather than on the birds... how terrible is that , to HAVE to go back to work as a fishing guide... what a life
The fish are still schooled up on the flats in large numbers and surely they will be a fixed schedule as long as the weather stays the same. The water levels are normal and should hold for a while. The school we fish today seemed to hold Reds in the 25-30 inch range... lucky for us we seemed to have the 30 inch size. Did also manage a few Trout today as school of them are also fairly thick, not a half bad day as Jim boated 2 in the 20 inch range.
Heres a picture of one of the fish today.

This week was welcomed change for me as 2 of my regular clients booked me for a photography trip on the Lagoon. Taking photos of wildlife is my hobby, my client Warner has the same passion and has been onto me for the past couple years about taking him to me favorite spots for some photos.
Our plan was to shot photos for a half morning and then fish a few hours. But as soon as we got to my spot where the Birds are nesting he changed his mind and wanted to shot longer. The Birds are packed onto a spoil island nesting and the shots are endless as we are able to sit about 70 feet away from them. As the Males fly in to feed the young , the shots of them in mid air are to die for.
We ended up doing the same on Friday and then my other client Kirby wanted to brush up on his photo skills so he hired me to do the half and half thing as well. Again we had an incredible day as they just keep coming in as the Babies sit and wait.
Here are some pictures of the days treasures.

Lawrence from Canada came to Orlando with his Girlfriend. As she attended a company seminar he slipped away for redfish on the Fly. I am happy to have been able to help him add the Redfish to his list of firsts on the Fly. The cast was perfect, a back handed cast to say the least... as soon as the fly hit the water it disappeared in it's mouth !
WHAT A CAST !!

Today we found the mother load of fish on the flats, this is a huge school. The fish are really grouped up in some areas right now. The Redfish are in shallow and feeding on soft plastic baits like 6 inch flukes. Today Bill and Dale got to catch their first Redfish on the Flats. This week is filling up fast so don't waste time and call today to book a spot.

As I suspected the bite got better today.
It was by far better than the last 2 days. Today James from the E-Chanel in California was able to catch Redfish, Black Drum, Seatrout and Jacks. Most where caught on a Mirror Lure 17MR and a few caught on Live Shrimp. You have to love getting some many different species on one trip. I Love Saltwater Fishing

Finally able to get back out onto the water !!!!!
The winds have been howling at 20-30 mph for the last 5 days as a huge cold front pushed across the US. We had unseasonable cool temps and high winds as a result of the front. Well as the weather broke today the fishing was still there as we located 3 nice schools of Redfish today. I had a hard time getting the Big Fish to eat today but my clients did manage to Land 5 Reds on a 4 hour trip. Even though we had hundreds of fish all around us today they were very nervous and hard to get to eat. I think the next 2 days will change as the weather gets even better.

en from Jacksonville fished with me 2 years ago when he visited Orlando, he was able to make it back down this way so he brought along his Dad and Girl friend to do some fishing.
The last time he was here we had an awesome day catching Big Reds. This trip was a little different as we tried for the Big fish but unfortunately we lost both of the 2 we had on the line. So I decided to try the Black Drum again today. Thankfully they are still in large numbers on some of the flats and taking a dead Shrimp with no problems. So Black Drum it was again.

BLack drum continue to be the fish on the feed this week. The school we are fishing is huge... not only are there black but Reds are mixed in as well. Trout also continue to bite as well. The afternoon was a great bite for them. The next few days looks like with the huge schools I think catching will be a no brainer.

Triple threat today as Ken lands a Lagoon Slam.
Ken had a day of fishing on the flats that turned into a once in a lifetime slam. Not only did he get a Redfish , Black Drum and a Trout in the same day, but the Trout was 8 pounds at 29 inches. This is an accomplishment in itself !!! Ken was so happy to have gotten a real trophy like this one. Man what a day, we had several large schools of Redfish and Black Drum all to our selves today. Each time we found fish they really seemed to be on a feed. Several of the fish hooked up today really hit the baits hard and ran a mile. The bite today was awesome.
Heres a line up of the fish caught...

Howard and I had a fun day talking and learning. The winds were blowing today and this makes for tough conditions. But with a good sense of humor and patience you will prevail. The bite was slow today due to the fact that it was very hard to get a bait in front of the fish. However if it did land in front of a fish it was picked up and off to the races. So really I can't say that they where not eating just hard to cast to.
Howard and I found out a few patterns today and stuck with it and did find success although it was hard at first. The conditions are better this week as the front moves past us tonight.
The dates are filling fast as we are in busy season so call today to book that trip.

Bob and Robby Harper joined me today for some reel screaming action.
Imagine running out to the flats in the early morning with conditions as calm as a glass mirror. The sunrise is reflecting off the calm waters as the skiff races to the first spot. We shut down at the edge of the flat not to spook the fish we are targeting.
Within seconds you look out in front of the boat and see tails sticking up out of the water about 9 inches in the air. Keep in mind this is a very big tail... as they waggle back and forth you realize there are more than just a couple of them.
More like 50 or 60 fish waiting for you to toss them a tasty live Shrimp. As you make that perfect cast soon after comes at huge thump !
FISH ON BOYS !!!!!!
Well that is exactly what happened today and here is Robby with his very nice 24 pound 43 inch Redfish. Just look at how proud he is at this perfect fish. WOW I love this job !
I was also very excited to learn that Robby's Dad who also joined us today is related to my Wife's Law School Professor. Mr Harper (Bob) is brothers to Professor John Harper at FAMU Law here in Orlando where my Wife goes to school.I love how this is really a small world.
God Bless and Lets go get you a trophy of a life time.

Today was a little to windy to find the Big Redfish but we had no problem getting the smaller ones and Trout to eat. the bite was steady all day for the most part. The last hour was slow but as for the morning it was good for sure. The weather looks good for the rest of the week so hopefully we can get the Big Reds.

Well , another successful day on the water.
Florida is truly in Spring mode as we continue to hit the 80's every day. The weather has really done us good this past week. Thankfully I have had a school of Redfish that seem to want to eat right now and catching has not been an issue at all. We had a great day of fishing today and not only did we catch a few but seen some very large Trout. I need to get some live mullet this week and target them. check back to see if we are a success.

Finally got calm winds to find the Big Fish again. Today we got 6 Reds and 4-5 Trout (not sure) but the cream on top was the 3 fish that ranged from 34 inches to 42 inches. that made the day. I waited till the sun got up and the wind died to look for them. Then it was on fire as we boated 3 in the last 2 hours. The fish get a hard core battle as each took about 30 minutes to boat. It was an awesome day on the water today !

Well Good News and Bad News...
The Bad news is the front is still sitting on top of us but the good news I am able to continue to put my clients on a good Redfish and Trout bite with the 20 mph winds. Today Wes and his Wife joined me and boy did she give him a spanking... Just kidding Wes !
Although she did catch all the fish!
But never the less we had a great time chatting and fishing today regardless of the weather. 7 fish Landed today on a 4 hour Trip. Not Bad for the conditions. Oh did I mention His Wife caught 6

With a High pressure system sitting on top of us today, the winds from the NE where blowing at 20 mph. Dave Dahl wanted to try and catch a Redfish and boy was this hard work for me. The winds made it tough to get to the best spots but with lots of poling into the stiff wind we did have lots of shots at 5-8 pound fish. 5 Reds caught today and lost a small Snook at the boat. Dave was a die hard and kudos to him for sticking in there for those 4 hours. Hopefully the winds will let up for me this week.

Good News and better news. The Reds are still grouped up in big schools, not only Reds but Black Drum as well. Today my clients wanted to catch keeper sized Reds for a BBQ. I am happy to say that the flats we fished today were absolutely loaded with them. Not only is the fishing good right now but we are truly being blessed by some outstanding weather as well.
This is the Sunrise I shot today on the way to the water.
And here is one of the Redfish caught today... can you say BBQ !

Today the weather was a little better.
The winds let up a little more and the weather reports are looking up for the rest of the week. Today I am posting this wonder sunrise that we were blessed with today. I'm so very lucky to be able to say that this is my office window. I haven't had a chance to fish for Snook yet, so keep checking back to see if their biting... but the Big Reds are here and Trout are all over the place. Lets go fishing.

Windy conditions today made for tough fishing, my clients had a little bit of a hard time as the winds blew 15 mph today. Along with cool temps and winds the fish seemed to be a little picky today as well. This time of the year we are on the border of the spring bite. Any day now the Snook will start eating again and the Tarpon show up. The Big Reds are here and as soon as the winds lay down we should be targeting them. Stay tuned to Sunshine networks this month for the episode with Mark Sosin called "Titusville reds".
Happy B-Day to Robbie from Orlando as he got a Red today for a Present and Dinner.

I want to Thank Carl and his 2 boys today... I had to show them a little casting techniques and they caught on quickly. It is a real treat for my clients to pick it up so fast like the boys did today. Thanks for a wonderful day out.
